Our residential horse riding holidays offer you a chance to ride in what is one of the best off road riding locations in the UK. Situated on the Pennine Bridleway we have miles of bridleways and routes, virtually all off road, in a peaceful and undiscovered part of Cumbria. Being a small centre 
with its own luxury self catering cottages we are able to tailor your holiday & budget to suit how much riding you wish as well as adjusting the style of the ride to suit your ability. Ideally you should have some riding experience and be able to walk and trot but if you are unsure please call us and we are happy to talk through what we think would suit you best. Children are welcome aged 12 and with so much to do in the area we are a great choice for non riding partners as well.
Small Group Rides tailored to suit your ability
We are a great centre for riders who are seeking to ride in a 
small groups with a relaxed friendly riding style. We limit the number of riders on each ride to around 6 or 7 riders and because we only organise one ride at a time we maintain a high standard of attention to ensure you have a great riding experience. Our horses are well chosen for their job and will offer you a forward going yet sensible ride. We always adjust the pace to suit your ability and can include fast gallops or steady hacks, always led by a mature and experienced ride leader.
Join in as much as you like
Most of our rides are led by the owner, Alison Roper or an equally experienced rider and you are welcome to join in as much as you like with our daily routines in the yard both before and after the ride. If you enjoy the chance to work with your horse or would like to learn more about horse care we can spend time to explain how we look after our horses.
Luxury Accommodation with flexible options for Weekend, Midweek or Week Long breaks
We have a choice of three 4 star cottages which sleep between 2 and 18 guests. These are available to rent for weekend, midweek or week long riding holidays. Converted from a range of stone barns they include wood burning stoves, power showers and crisp white linen making a welcome return after a day on the fells. Our cottages are graded 4 stars with Visit Britain and are equipped with everything you need to enjoy a self catering break. We also have a great selection of cosy Inns and restaurants ( one within walking distance ) and lots of tea shops which will ensure you experience Cumbrian local produce at its best. Our local grocery store can also arrange a home delivery which we will happily receive and put away for you before your arrival.
Perfect for Families with Non Riding Members
If you are planning a family holiday which includes some members who ride and some who do not we are a good choice. The area is excellent for walking and cycling ( we provide route maps and hire bikes ) and the area has lots of activities on offer. Non riding members can be assured they will not feel like they are staying at a riding school, we are a very small centre and which operates quietly and there is plenty to do for all members of the family. Parents with horse mad children can also leave them in our care and enjoy some good walking or just relax in the garden.
