Hi Alison, Just emailing to thank both you and David for a fantastic holiday last week with my horse, Layla. The Stoneheights apartment was lovely, with everything provided (except a freezer compartment for my icecream, but luckily you came to the rescue!). Also the horse accommodation was great, lovely stable with a view and our own tackroom. Having visited Street Farm last year for an EGB Endurance ride, I knew how beautiful the area was and found it very easy to follow your routes as a solo rider. The pub ride when we joined one of your group rides was excellent and thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting to see the surrounding area. We will definitely be back next year. best regards, Julie, Layla and Suzy the collie ***********************************************************************************************
I don't think it would be exaggerating to say that 'Stonetrail Holidays' offer some of the best riding country to be found in the UK, wide open vistas, lovely green tracks and stunning hillsides. Alison is brilliantly helpful; providing advice and mapping routes across the most amazing scenery - negotiating limestone pavements, traversing beautiful valleys, climbing sheer mountain passes and enjoying glorious gentle canters amidst fairytale ruined castles - riding doesn't get much better than this! What a holiday!
Go - Take your horse! and I bet that neither of you will want to go home!

Dear Alison This is just to say how much we all enjoyed our stay with you at Stonetrailholidays We could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Everybody riders, walkers and none of the above had plenty to do. The accommodation that you have created was extremely comfortable with everything that one could need. The stabling facilities were everything that one could seek, the paddocks too and of course the opportunities for riding were just great. The amount of land available for trekking was seemingly endless and across the most beautiful countryside and in contrast with for example much of the Lakes it was very deserted. The fell walking was also excellent So all in all we had a wonderful time and will try to come again next year. All the best for the rest of the season and congratulations on having created such a remarkable holiday centre Yours with many thanks Douglas Hogg

The 3 P’s of Stone Trail Holidays During July this year my sister Carey and I embarked on our first holiday together since riding native horses in Mongolia some 12 years ago, so, 4 days in Cumbria would be more local and with the advantage of me being able to take my own trusty steed Rosie. The first thing that struck us was the beauty of the … …Place. Stunning country side, a beautiful farm location with modern accommodation decorated to a very high standard and extremely comfortable, well worth visiting for the accommodation alone! The riding is excellent and challenging (if you want it to be) with all routes mapped out and available …too many to choose from! 3 fells in three days, no rain and quite a bit of sunshine, some very steep climbs, lots of sheep, quaint villages, fabulous pubs and lovely… …People. Without exception everyone we met were polite, interesting and happy. Lots of smiley faces and a willingness to pass the time of day seemed to be the rule rather than the exception. Our hosts Alison and David Roper were accommodating helpful and thoroughly nice people to be around. Even though they were juggling a young family, other guests and a major trail holiday at the same time Alison was able to mount Carey on two lovely… …Ponies - Smorgy and Tasha. Both were willing, well behaved and brave never missing their footing and unafraid of the usual things you would expect to frighten horses…low flying aircraft and horse eating sheep. Rosie’s no slacker when it comes to going the distance, having regularly being ridden in competitive long distance rides. The holiday was a bit of a break and also part of our training schedule…lots of lovely hills! Would we do it again? …definitely…worth every penny! Thanks Steve (my partner) for a wonderful Christmas present!!!! Deborah Jones July 2011 *************************************************************************************************
A great start to the riding season (our holiday was taken at the beginning of May). It was such a privilege to ride out of the gate onto grass, tracks and moors. We especially enjoyed our second ride, lots of cantering and galloping and a lovely track along the river Eden, through lush meadows (a bit too tempting for our by then hungry horses!) with a welcome stop by a ruined castle. Other routes were taken at a more leisurely pace, being more adventurous and challenging in terms of terrain. The scenery was amazing, the routes quite remote. We rode through wild ponies, over Wild Boar Fell, under the Settle /Carlisle railway and even found a welcoming pub. We were so proud of our horses who coped admirably with every challenge. We found some lovely pubs nearby to eat out in the evening, although the accommodation is really well equipped if you want to eat in. A glass of wine by the log burning stove is always tempting. We would thoroughly recommend this ‘take your own horse holiday’. And our horses loved it too! Why go anywhere else?
