Daily Horse Riding, Trekking and Trail Riding in Cumbria, UK

The Eden Valley Riding Centre is situated midway between Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen in the Eden Valley with direct access to miles of bridleways through some of the most stunning scenery in the North of England. We specialise in providing high quality trekking and trail rides lasting from 30 mins to several days and have a group of around 15 well bred forward going horses, mostly native breeds with great characters. Our rides are suitable for beginners as well as very experienced riders seeking a faster and more challenging pace. The majority of rides are led by Alison, the owner, and we take great care to ensure everyone has a fun, safe and enjoyable ride. We also have luxury self catering cottages on site, perfect for a good value horse riding holiday. 1 Hour Trek - £25

A one hour bridleway ride with spectacular views of the Eden Valley. Ridden at walking pace. Age 10 upwards. Riders must be able to ride without a lead rein.

90 Mins Trek - £35

Our 90 min ride is very popular for less experienced riders as well as riders who just want a quiet relaxed hack out. Led by mature, qualified ride leaders, this ride is ridden at a walk and trot pace with an optional canter for those who can with as much instruction as you wish. A great way to meet other riders and enjoy the fabulous scenery. Minimum age 10 years.

2 Hour Ride - £45

Our 2 hour ride takes us through the stunning Howgill fells and Wild Boar fell where we have enjoy some exhilerating canters. The scenery is quite stunning and we often ride without meeting anyone. The canters on this ride are optional. Minimum Age 10 years.

Half Day Ride - £65

We have several routes for our half day hacks which include 3 hours in the saddle. A very popular route is our ride into the beautiful Mallerstang Valley along the Lady Anne Bridleway which follows the River Eden towards Pendragon Castle, reputed to be the home of Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur. We enjoy some great canters on this route and the scenery is superb. Another popular route is our ride through the hidden valleys of the Howgill Fells where we pass herds of fell ponies and enjoy an exhilerating canter along Ash fell. Riders must be able to canter in open spaces. Minimum Age 10 years

Full Day Pub Ride - £95 - Adults Only

Our full day pub rides are a treat for experienced riders seeking a varied pace ( similar to hunting without the jumps ! ) across some of the most breath taking scenery in Cumbria. Riders must be confident and experienced at riding at all paces in open spaces. We start at 10am and return at 4pm with a one hour lunch stop and generally cover between 15-18 miles. Price does not include cost of lunch. Adults only ( unless you are booking as a private group ride ).

The Howgill Fells Ride with a pub stop in Ravenstonedale at either The Black Swan or the Kings Head

The Mallerstang Valley Ride with a pub stop at the Black Bull in Nateby

Family & Friends Private Group Rides - for up to 6 Riders

If you have a number of riders who wish to ride together our family and friends private group ride option is a good way to lower the cost as well as tailoring your ride to suit your group. You can book a private group ride from 1 hour to a full day and we can be more flexible with our minumum age and ability. This is also a great option for more experienced riders who wish to request a particular route and style of ride. Please contact Alison us to discuss your individual requirements and preferred dates. The following prices include a private group ride for up to 6 persons:

1 Hour - £120, 90 mins - £180, 2 Hour Ride £240, 3 Hour Ride - £330, Full Day £495 ( Picnic or Pub Ride )

To make a booking please telephone 015396-23444. You can also check availability online by clicking here. If you have ridden with us before you can book online using your password ( email us for a reminder if you need to ) Payment is taken on the day of your ride ( cash or cheque ) except for full day rides which require a deposit of 50% when you book. All bookings require the completion of a riders registration form ( so we can make sure we select a suitable horse for your ability ) and will be confirmed by email.
